An ant farm consists of at least two parts, the part that is normally underground (nest) and the part that is above the ground, the foraging area, or the area where the ants can get their food and take away waste. We call this the arena. In the beginning, the nest tube is still the safe place for a colony and you can see it as a nesting part. The larger the colony, the more space they need and from about 30 workers you can connect a larger nest part.
